a student-led 5k run/walk to raise money and awareness for fragile x.
Dash for disability - April 6, 2019
Where will the race’s proceeds go?
The purpose of this race is to raise money and awareness for fragile X syndrome. According to the CDC, fragile X syndrome is “the most common known cause of inherited intellectual disability.” It is caused by a mutation on the FMR1 gene on the X chromosome and leads to intellectual disability, hyperactivity issues, and several characteristic physical features.
100% of race proceeds will be donated to FRAXA Research Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to finding treatments and eventually a cure for fragile X. Started in 1994 by three parents of children with fragile X, FRAXA has raised over $25 million in support of advancing research towards finding a cure for the condition.
